A warm welcome to the new product ideas from December 1962 page. On this page are a list of ideas for new products that were put forward by people back in 1962.
Perhaps there is something here that sparks your imagination? Maybe you too can come up with a fantastic, new idea for a product. If so, and if it's something that you would like to share with the rest of the world then please do so by visiting my creative ideas page where you will find a form for submitting your creative ideas.
Please note that as these ideas were from 1962 some of them may now be in common use today or simply irrelevant due to them being related to an old fashioned product or concept.
Now for the ideas...
Speedier mailboxes with a locked, removable container at the side or back. A mailman would simply lift out a full drawer and replace it with an empty one. J.L.Peters, Brooklyn, New York.
Illuminated saber saws. Placing a small lamp just above the blade would mean that you wouldn’t be constantly shifting the light source as you worked. - Len Watson, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Come-a-part-hinges on car trunk lids would enable you to quickly lift off the cover. They’d make it much easier to carry large objects in cars with flat trunks. - R.Archart, Gary, Ind.
Pre-Wired Christmas trees, made of plastic and with built in light sockets would eliminate all those unsightly cords and the tedious and drop job of stringing them. - Thomas Zadlo, Trumbull, Connecticut
A plug in timer switch for sleepy heads. Wind it up and then plug your radio or television into it, and the set would go off after the pre-set interval. - N.Robinson, Northbridge, Australia
