New Product Ideas From November 1962

By Martin Gilliard

A warm welcome to the new product ideas from November 1962 page. On this page are a list of ideas for new products that were put forward by people back in 1962.

Perhaps there is something here that sparks your imagination? Maybe you too can come up with a fantastic, new idea for a product. If so, and if it's something that you would like to share with the rest of the world then please do so by visiting my creative ideas page where you will find a form for submitting your creative ideas.

Please note that as these ideas were from 1962 some of them may now be in common use today or simply irrelevant due to them being related to an old fashioned product or concept.

Now for the ideas...

Futuristic Beds

These futuristic beds would act like baby incubators to keep you at your individual perfect sleeping temperature. They would have controls for heating in the winter and cooling in the summer months. No daily bed-making would be required. Just simply cover it during the day with a spread. - H.J.McGraw, Newark, New Jersey

Pull String Openers

These pull string openers are a great idea for boxed food such as frozen food packages. You simply pull the string and tear the paper sealing the box of food to open it and slide out the contents. - L.M.Gardener, New York City

Arrows On Left-Handed Nuts

Having arrows displayed on left handed nuts would point the direction when removing them and prevent stripping threads and wasting time. Think of the tempers they would save! - Richard Soeldner, Plain, Wis.

Wire Bristled Whirling Brushes

Wire bristled whirling brushes would be ideal for cleaning white walled tires. Simply put cleaning solvent in the special compartment and whirl away - no elbow grease. - A.C.Orenstein, Philadelphia, Pa.

Flexible Rain-spouting

To form downspouts around complex roof overhangs you could use this idea for flexible rain-spouting. The tubing would be made out of something similar to that what you can see on goose neck desk lamps. - Ken Clayton, Columbus, Ohio
